The department of Anesthesia provides perioperative care to the patients that come through the operating rooms each day. The Mission Hospital performs approximately 5000 surgical procedures per year, which include cardiac, neurosurgical, vascular, orthopedic, plastic, ophthalmology, and gynecologic, urologic, general and minimally invasive surgery. We also provide care to patients undergoing procedures in locations outside the main operating room, such as labor and delivery, the endoscopy suit, the CT scan and MRI departments.
In addition many patients are seen in the Anesthetic consult clinic for preoperative evaluation. The department also takes care of The Surgical Critical Care Units (which includes 10 bed CTVS-ITU, 14 bed Surgical & Neuro-Surgical/trauma unit) providing perioperative intensive care and resuscitation. The Department also provides acute and chronic pain management services. Members of the department are actively involved in teaching and training program for doctors and paramedical staff.
