The Mission Hospital, Durgapur in collaboration with the Government of India, West Bengal (Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Durgapur) has jointly organized this seminar, “Strengthening Systems for Better Fire Protection in Hospitals”.

The Mission Hospital has always been the leader in patient safety and Quality of care, this seminar would be another leap in its continued commitment towards safe medical care for the entire community in this region.

The one day seminar had presentations on Incident Response Systems, Risk Reduction & Internal Fire Fighting System and various other aspects of fire safety preparedness. The program would also include three mock drills, one from the hospital side and two other from the Government agencies-Civil Defense and NDRF (National Disaster Response Force). We are confident that this kind of a program would be the guiding light for all other hospitals to be better equipped in systems and processes to prevent and combat fire.

The Mission Hospital has always been lauded in international levels for its customized fire safety plan, which has been adopting recent breakthroughs in system and process innovations. Dr. Satyajit Bose, Chairman and Senior Cardiac Surgeon, The Mission Hospital speaking on the occasion remarked, “The seminar is an endeavor to disseminate knowledge and enhance the levels of awareness on various fire preparedness mechanisms.

The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Durgapur Mr. Sankha Santra, WBCS (exe.), presented his high opinion on IRS and concluded that if IRS is put in place, and stakeholders are trained and made aware of their roles it will greatly help in reducing chaos and confusion during the response phase. He acknowledged The Mission Hospital, Durgapur and expressed his gratitude for organizing the seminar jointly with the office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate Durgapur.

The District Magistrate, Burdwan, Dr. Saumitra Mohan, IAS had highly appreciated the program and has endorsed the systems and process used in the hospital fire incident management which is again a laurel for the hospital.
