Dr Srirup Chatterjee underwent his cardiac surgical training in UK under stalwarts like Sir Donald Ross and Sir Magdi Yacoub. Since 1989 he has been heading cardiac surgical services in India initially in Pune, then from 1996 in Kolkata. He has over 20,000 heart operations to his credit. He has been a pioneer in Off-Pump CABG and total arterial CABG. His particular interest has been complicated and high risk cases like poor ventricle CABG, left ventricular aneurysms, aortic root surgery. In valvular heart disease he has special expertise in vale repairs and the Ross operation. Dr Chatterjee also has a particular love for operating on children and is one of the foremost surgeons in tackling complex congenital heart disease, including neonates.
